Prayer to All the Teteoh

My Gods, Noteohuan, Bricks and builders and grout of our world, Your sacrifices each day do not go unheard, Your suffering on our behalf is not in vain. Your Blood sustains us, Your Holy Pain lifts us upright and teaches us what we must know. I place myself at Your feet in supplication, in love, and listen for the gentle beating of Your sacred hearts. Tlazohcamati.

Litany of Teteoh

As for You, Huey Tezcatlipoca, Lord of Masks and Mirrors; You peer through Your mirror to know the Mysteries, the hidden things of the world. You are the mirror, dark and smoking, through which we may see, through which we may know, through which we may understand. You are the Mysteries, the known and the unknown, the wisdom and its obfuscation, the enemy and ally. Be near, Lord, be near. As for You, Huey Quetzalcoatl, Lord of Winds and Smoke; You blow Your winds, which whistle and scream, rustling feathers and leaves alike. You are the winds, the smoke, that which carries our songs and prayers up to the Heavens. You are the songs, the spoken art, the reason we communicate. Be near, Lord, be near. As for You, Huey Xipe Totec, Lord of New Growth; You split open the seed to reveal its youthful sprout. You are the seed, the shell your flayed skin, the sprout your youthful face as you emerge in springtime. You are the blood which sustains the seed, the sacrifice and its child. Be near, Lord, be near. As for You, Huey Huitzilopochtli, Lord of Inspiring Fortitude; You are the warrior's arm which carries the traveler's staff, showing the way and inspiring us to follow. You are the way, the direction in which we must travel to find our strength. You are the strength that we find upon that path, the open hand we need to get on our feet and try again. Be near, Lord, be near. As for You, Huey Tlaloc, Lord of Heavenly Waters; You stand atop Your mountain, making thunderous noise as you dance and make war. You are the mountain, the cave which is in the mountain, the pool which is in the cave, the swelling of the pool as the rains fall. You are the rains, their trickling and their raging, their power and their weakness. Be near, Lord, be near. As for You, Huey Chalchiwtlikwe, Lady of Earthly Waters; You provide the jade waters which cleanse us, body and soul, skin and organ. You are the jade waters, Your tides churning and Your springs singing. You are the vessel which holds the water, the womb of countless children. Be near, Lady, be near. As for You, Huey Huixtocihuatl, Lady of Saltmakers; You provide us with salt, showing our foods beautiful flavour, texture, and depth. You are the salty ocean, the contradiction of a water which does not quench thirst, the lifeblood of distant, dark ecosystems. You are the sustenance of salt, creating dryness and balance in our bodies and our blood. Be near, Lady, be near. As for You, Huey Mayahuel, Lady of Maguey; You are the Maguey, transformed to conceal Yourself from Your Grandmothers. You are the gifts of the Maguey, the strong fiber for fabric, the sweet nectar for pulque, the fresh flowers for eating. You are the Mother of those who enjoy these gifts, the Mother of 400 Rabbits, the Mother of 400 Sons. Be near, Lady, be near. As for You, Huey Patecatl, Lord of Medicines; You make our medicines, providing relief and healing to the sick and the weak. You are the healing, Your wise and capable hands lifting us out of our pain. You teach us healing, allowing us to perform Your work with our own hands. Be near, Lord, be near. As for You, Huey Tlazolteotl, Lady of Filth; You cause the filth, our excrement, the stains of dirt upon our souls. You cleanse the filth, Your sacred sweat-bath washing away the misdeeds that mar us. You make use of the filth, eating our sin, composting our impurity, to create life anew in neverending movement. Be near, Lady, be near. As for You, Huey Chantico, Lady of the Hearth; You light the flames of the hearth, bringing warmth, light, and love to the home. You are the dangers of the flames, hissing, biting, presiding over warriors, as cruel and dangerous as You are bright and gracious. You are the blessings of the flames, cooking our food, burning our copal, carrying our offerings to the Teteoh. Be near, Lady, be near. As for You, Huey Xiuhtecuhtli, Turquoise Lord; Your fire stands at the center of the world, raging in brightest warmth. You are the fire, upon which we count days, seasons, years, and 52-year cycles. You are the giver and the keeper of fire, the Old Old God, Our Grandfather. Be near, Lord, and light our way.
